Krisonia — Gouache for High Jewellery
Flower of Light — the parure illustrated in this work — was commissioned by Krisonia Milano as part of a special haute joaillerie collection. The illustration of high jewellery occupies a singular place in Francesca Perona’s practice: a discipline shaped by years spent as a watch designer at Rolex and later as a freelance designer for several jewellery maisons, where design rigour and expressive draughtsmanship became inseparable. A dedicated course in gouache illustration for haute joaillerie at the École Van Cleef & Arpels in Paris completed this journey — deepening her understanding of precious stones, settings and fine goldsmithing, and shaping both her eye and her hand.
Gouache was chosen for its opacity and depth: a medium uniquely capable of rendering the luminosity of gems and the warmth of gold in ways that photography alone cannot fully capture.
Krisonia is a Milanese haute joaillerie maison founded in 2019 by Vace Istanboulli, with a long family heritage in the jewellery world. At its heart lives the pomegranate — an emblem of unity, life and beauty — woven into every creation alongside the signature red that defines the Maison’s identity.
